Cecilia has been lecturing in Hospitality and Tourism at QMU since 2011. Cecilia first started teaching as an academic tutor after securing a bursary funding for a PhD, which she completed in 2015.

Previously, Cecilia worked as a manager for Subway and other service based industries in Germany and Scotland, including employers such as VisitScotland and the Music Conservatoire in Cologne, Germany, as well as supporting learners of German as a teaching assistant at Stevenson College in Edinburgh.
Her PhD project allowed Cecilia to spend some time in India, where she carried out interviews with rural farmers on the prospects of forming tourism co-operative. This experience has contributed to her growing interest in the practical application of sustainable tourism development, with an emphasis on community participation.
Cecilia is involved in the supervision of under- and post-graduate students and has served as a member of the BEaM Ethics panel since 2017.

Cecilia鈥檚 primary teaching area is in Tourism & Hospitality at all undergraduate level. She has also been involved in teaching Business Research Methods since 2011. Cecilia's seminars and lectures focus on tourism, market diversification within hospitality & tourism and contemporary issues in hospitality & tourism, amongst other topics.
